PIKE ROAD, Ala. — During its regular Town Council meeting, the Town of Pike Road dedicated a significant portion of its agenda to offering words of appreciation to some of its critical public service partners: the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Crimestoppers 215-STOP, and the Montgomery Humane Society. Local leaders emphasized that these organizations’ effective partnerships are vital to maintaining the high quality of life and safety that Pike Road residents enjoy.
Mayor Gordon Stone and members of the Town Council expressed their gratitude for the dedication, professionalism, and proactive engagement these partners bring to the community daily.
“The Town of Pike Road has always rated having great citizen services as a pillar of importance,” noted Mayor Gordon Stone, reiterating the town’s commitment to outstanding public safety and community-oriented collaborations.
A highlight of the meeting was an extended comment from Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham, who spoke on the strength of the relationship between his office and the Town of Pike Road. Sheriff Cunningham praised the transparency, communication, and mutual trust that define the partnership.
“Everything we’re doing, we’re doing for the citizens of Montgomery County. I can’t think of any other organization that I want to be with or work with any other another township,” Sheriff Cunningham said. “Everywhere I go, I talk about—you can call the mayor or call any one of you all, and you all call me… We’re going to work out the issues, and we’re going to address the issues head on.”
Sheriff Cunningham also highlighted the positive impact of community-focused initiatives, such as the School Resource Officers (SROs) who drive patrol vehicles branded with the Pike Road Patriots logo. He noted that this visibility builds tremendous respect among students and parents, helping to mitigate and de-escalate potential issues before they start.
The Town Council members echoed these sentiments, pointing to the data-driven evolution of the Sheriff’s Office. Council members noted that the Sheriff’s team not only provides the utmost service but also effectively utilizes response data to back up their results, giving citizens peace of mind that their community is safe.
The partnerships with Crimestoppers and the Montgomery Humane Society were also celebrated as essential components of the town’s public safety and community network.
