PIKE ROAD, Ala. — The Town of Pike Road has announced a unique community fundraising opportunity that combines local artistry, patriotism, and the upcoming SummerFest celebration. Residents and visitors will have the chance to own a one-of-a-kind keepsake marking the 250th celebration of the nation’s independence, crafted and presented by the talented Pike Road Quilters.
The centerpiece of this initiative is the 250th American Independence Celebration Quilt, a beautifully designed textile masterpiece. For a donation of just $5, participants will receive one entry into a drawing to become the proud owner of this historic heirloom. The drawing is scheduled to take place during the town’s highly anticipated SummerFest event on Thursday, June 25, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Importantly, ticket holders do not need to be present at the event to be granted the quilt.
For the creators, the quilt represents more than just fabric and thread; it is a physical expression of the community’s identity.
“Every quilt has a story, and some of them are very sentimental,” explained Pike Road Quilter Chris Sandstrom. “This quilt is special because of what it represents.”
“Pike Road is such a patriotic-minded community. We always have been,” Charlene Rabren, longtime resident and Pike Road Quilter said. “When we started our town, it was because we really wanted to have our voice heard. As we formed the Town of Pike Road, we decided to make our mascot the Patriots. We are a very patriotic community. We love America, we love being a part of that, and to be where we are, it’s just so comforting.”
This deep-seated patriotism has long been a hallmark of the Pike Road community. The creation of the 250th American Independence Celebration Quilt continues this proud tradition, offering a tangible connection to the town’s history and spirit.
Donations for the Pike Road Quilters can be made directly at the Pike Road Town Hall, located at 9575 Vaughn Road. For those seeking additional details or with questions about the drawing, inquiries can be directed via email to [email protected].
This is an exceptional opportunity for Pike Road residents to support their community while potentially taking home a beautiful piece of local heritage that honors the nation’s milestone anniversary.
