Art All Around Us - Still Life Art Show

There is art in everything if you know how to see it! Explore the beauty and meaning behind everyday objects through "Art All Around Us," a still life art show, March 19 - April 24 at the Pike Road Arts Center (944 Wallahatchie Rd). The Opening Reception will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 19!

From Arts Council Coordinator Patty Payne: "Still life art evokes meditation. It is sometimes a challenge to determine what was the artist thinking when the scene was put to the canvas! ... Think of all of the objects around you, why do you keep them? Perhaps for their color (think of pottery), their age (think of an old pair of Aunt Annie's gloves), or their memories (think of the homerun baseball). Still life art provides a bridge to our memories. Artists will bring life to still life art through lights and darks and create the mood they wish to evoke for the viewer. Light is unbelievably complicated to portray and artists spend endless hours perfecting the skill! Sometimes, the object of the art is not in the object at all, but in the reflections, or what is behind the art."

The Pike Road Arts Center (PRAC) is located at 944 Wallahatchie Rd, under the water tower. It is home to the Water House Gallery and gift shop, studio space, and a variety of events presented by the Pike Road Arts Council, an ENHANCE initiative committee.
